I wish I had shares in the weedkiller company

Seriously, I have spent a fortune on weedkiller!  When we moved into our house the garden was infested with wandering jew - a weed.  Now it is 35 years later and I am still killing it.  The only thing I have found is to pull out as much as possible, and hit the rest with roundup or zero weedkiller.  But it does not stop there!  Oh no.  I have a large area of paving, and it constantly gets weeds in it, and around the side of the house is concrete, it also constantly gets weeds.  So I have tried this recipe out, to see if it works.

Homemade Weed Killer
  •  1 gallon of white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • Liquid dish soap (any brand)
  •  Empty spray bottle
  •  Put salt in the empty spray bottle and fill it the rest of the way up with white vinegar. Add a squirt of liquid dish soap. This solution works best if you use it on a hot day. Spray it on the weeds in the morning, and as it heats up it will do its work.
One thing to understand - this is not suitable for garden beds as it can render soil inhospitable for the plants you want.  Lets see if it works on the concrete area.

Here is what the area looks like, I will post after a couple of days and see what it looks like then.

Just a word on vinegar - here is my favourite pin, it is a shower cleaner that actually works :http://sarahjanescraftblog.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/as-seen-on-pinterest-diy-shower-cleaner.html

postscript:  Sadly the mixture did not work - looks like its back to Zero Weed Killer!
